Ditto has been part of Pokemon Go since its first generation of Pokemon was released back in 2016, but that hasn’t stopped it from being one of the hardest Pokemon to catch.

Due to its shift-shaping ways, fans are always eager to get their hands on the elusive creature. It may not be the most difficult of them all to catch in Pokemon Go but you do have to have some patience to add this character to your roster.

How to catch Ditto in Pokemon Go

Due to Ditto never showing their original form before catching, it does make them hard to seek out. Here are a few tips on helping you find the purple character.

  • Keep an eye on the Pokemon that are nearby. If one of the ‘disguises’ Pokemon, listed below, appear then there could be a chance that it’s a Ditto undercover.
  • Use Incense to heighten local spawn rates. Catch as many Pokemon as you can with particular focus on the ones Ditto’s can disguise as.
  • Join Pokemon Go Sub Reddit’s or Facebook groups. Players will occasionally share where they have found Ditto’s. You’ll have to be quick to be in with a chance though.
  • Ditto’s cannot be found in eggs so don’t focus on those while you’re on your hunt.

Pokemon Go Ditto Disguises (October 2021)

Yet again, Niantic has changed who Ditto could be disguised as. The current list of Ditto disguises are as follows:

  • Ghastly
  • Drowzee
  • Remoraid
  • Teddiursa
  • Gulpin
  • Numel
  • Stunky
  • Dwebble
  • Foongus

These disguises are dubbed to run through October, but they can possibly change at any time so keep your eyes peeled for any new additions.

What can a Ditto be used for after catching?

Once captured, you can use Ditto’s in Gyms for battles. You can also give Ditto candy to upgrade them and achieve a strong Pokemon in your bag.

Pokemon Go is available now on mobile devices.
