The days are coming closer to the actual release of Battlefield 2042. It’s been a bit of a slow period for any news or developments coming from the game other than its month-long delay. Fortunately, there will be an open beta coming up for the game. This guide will go over when it’ll come out, how to get in, get started, and more.

Battlefield 2042 Beta Release Time

The beta will be held between October 6th through the 9th. However, these dates are sectioned off into two types. From October 6 to 7, people who pre-ordered the game or are EA Play members will get to start playing the beta on those dates. The open part of the beta starts on October 8 for the rest of the people who didn’t pre-order. Preloading for the beta will start on October 5, one day before it actually goes live.

How to Access the Battlefield 2042 Beta

The Battlefield 2042 open beta will be available on all consoles that the game is set to release on. PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners will be able to find the beta in the PlayStation store. You do not need a Plus subscription in order to partake in the beta.

Xbox One and Series S/X users will be able to find the beta to preload on the Microsoft Store. Unfortunately for these players, they will need Xbox Live Gold in order to participate in the beta. PC players will be able to access the beta on Origin, Steam, Epic Games, and the EA app.

If you pre-ordered a physical copy of the game, check the receipt or any supplementary item given to you from your retailer. There should be a code to redeem the beta for your respective platform’s store. Digital pre-orders should grant you instant access the moment the beta goes live on the 6th.

Battlefield 2042 Beta Content

Players will be able to partake in one large-scale game of Conquest on the map, Orbital. It’s the one we saw in the initial trailer where the rocket is launching off. In this mode, you’ll have to capture and defend multiple control points throughout the map while the other team attacks. This is a war of attrition, but can be won if either team exhausts the enemy team’s respawn tickets or fully completes their objectives. This is the bread and butter of Battlefield’s online modes.

This mode will allow lobbies to have up to 128 people on PC, Xbox Series consoles, and the PlayStation 5. Last gen builds of the game including the beta on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will support lobbies up to 64 players.

You will be able to try out four different operators in the open beta. They are:

Webster Mackay– A standard issue soldier who can use a grappling hook for mobility and has a nimble passive ability that helps him move quicker and ADS (aim down sights) quicker.

Maria Falck – A medic type class. She has a syringe pistol that can heal enemies and conveniently damage foes, too. She also has the ability to resuscitate downed allies to max HP.

Pyotr “Boris” Guskovsky – A turret-based, defender class. He can deploy his SG-36 Sentry Gun that locks onto enemies and shoots them within a certain range. His sentry turret will also reveal enemies who it locks on to.

Wikus “Casper” Van Daele – A sniper/stealth class. He can deploy a recon drone that scans nearby enemies and even disorient them with EMP capabilities. He also has a movement sensor that will alert him when enemies are within a certain range.
