While Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee aren’t the toughest games in the franchise (they’re actually some of the easiest), the game does have a few battles that are particularly challenging. The Elite 4 are of course troublesome, as well as the fights that come after them, but there was one battle that felt like a bit of a difficulty spike. To help out here’s a quick guide on how to beat Blue at Silph Co. Head Office.

You run into Blue a few times on your journey to become the very best, like no one ever was. While each fight represents a big jump in difficulty, there was just something about the battle at Silph Co. Head Office that presented a particular challenge. It took me a few times to take him out, so here’s how I recommend you do it.

For this fight Blue has an Exeggutor and a Charizard, at level 38 and 40 respectively. If you don’t have a team at or near this level then the first step to beating Blue is to grind out some levels. Do any side quests, trainer battles, or gyms you have available, then head to a nearby Route and do some catching. For more leveling tips click here.

But who should be on that team? With these two it’s pretty tough to decide. Their strengths and weaknesses compliment each other very well. Exeggutor is a dual type Pokemon, which means he has lots of strengths and weaknesses. The best way to take him out is with a strong Bug type Pokemon, so use Scyther or someone like him if you can. Beyond that focus on Ice, Flying, or Psychic type Pokemon, if you’re in a pinch.

While Charizard is higher level and a more daunting Pokemon, he’s actually a good bit easier. Use any Rock Pokemon to take him down fast, alternating to Water or Electric Pokemon if needed.
