The upgrade system in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD can call for some seemingly random things, so we’ll be looking at how to get tumbleweed so that you can further upgrade your gear. Getting your hands on these dusty treasure items is similar to bird feathers in that they don’t have that many direct ways of being obtained outside of a few select chests. And while you may have seen them tumbling around on the overworld, you may be wondering just how to actually collect them.

How to Get Tumbleweed

The first thing you’ll need to get your hands on in order for this to work is a bug net. You can buy one in Skyloft from Beedle for a relatively small amount of rupees, so make sure to pick it up beforehand as you absolutely need one. Next, you’ll want to take flight on your Loftwing and head for the yellow beam of light that leads to the desert area. Where you land is important for how easy things end up being, so for this, you’ll want to land anywhere in the main desert area which is everywhere that surrounds the Mining Facility.

Once you’ve touched down, you already have everything you need to get some tumbleweeds. All you have to do is pull out your bug net and scoop them on up. Be quick though, as the tumbleweeds will be destroyed if they touch walls or sink sand. If you’re having trouble finding some to catch, try to just stand still for a bit and wait for one to roll on past you. It takes a bit of patience, but they’ll show up soon enough. Once you have three of them you should see about getting your bug net upgraded, as the increased size will make catching more of them that much easier on you.
