How to Use Amiibo in Skyrim
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has finally arrived on Nintendo Switch. The game is just as big, open, and expansive as you always remember, and now you can take the experience on the go. On top of this, Skyrim for Nintendo Switch adds motion controls and amiibo support, but that second one is a little touch to figure out. So here’s a quick guide on how to use amiibo in Skyrim for Nintendo Switch.
You can’t just go tapping your amiibo to your Switch controller to unlock the goodies they provide. The key is to equip the amiibo magic ability within the Magic menu. To get here just hit B and press left to open the magic menu. The amiibo option is right at the top of the All option. Press A or either trigger to equip it, but the power will not go to either of your hands like many other magic abilities.
Instead amiibo just activates to the R button (above the right trigger). Press this to create a glowing circle on the ground. By tapping an amiibo to your controller you will unlock a randomized chest of goodies in this spot. Using Zelda amiibo have the chance of unlocking various Zelda themed items, so try to use those often.
Each amiibo can only be used once per 24 hours, no matter how much time has passed in the game. Load up Skyrim for Switch each day and scan in any amiibo you own to get as much out of them as possible.
