Playing this mode from start to finish with a particular character will unlock a specific fighter, while the main method is a bit more random. So, who do you use for Snake?
Snake can be unlocked by playing with Link, King K. Rool, Ice Climbers, Simon, or Meta Knight. The unlock path in Classic Mode requires that you beat the mode with Link first to unlock the first character in the chain and then on successive playthroughs you will unlock a new character. You can continue to play with Link to unlock all characters on his route, or you can play with the character that you just unlocked to unlock the next one.
